Struggling to Pay Property Taxes Post-Rehab
Donation protected
My name is Linnette, and I was born with Spina Bifida, resulting in paralysis from the waist down, which necessitates the use of a wheelchair. In 2022, my mother suffered a stroke, which required me to serve as her primary companion in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities from April 2022 until August 2023.
Last year, I encountered my own health challenges, specifically an infected wound on my thigh, which resulted in my extended stay at a rehabilitation center from January to November.
Due to the unforeseen difficulties I faced last year, I was unable to pay my property taxes, as my Social Security benefits were allocated to cover the expenses of the rehabilitation center during 2024. This left me with limited financial resources for the final three months of the year (November to January). During this period, the CEO of the center determined that it was in my best interest to leave, despite my acquisition of new insurance that would have enabled them to continue receiving payments. Following my departure, I encountered challenges in updating my account information with the Social Security Administration (SSA) due to the administrative staff at the rehabilitation center being uncertain of the correct details to provide me in mid-January.
I am unable to rely on my family for assistance, as they are facing their own difficulties as well. While I recognize that everyone has their own challenges, I currently find myself without any means to settle my outstanding bill. My monthly Social Security income is insufficient for my needs, prompting me to seek assistance in covering the property taxes, which total $7,512.50. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated.

Eventhough I was going through a tough time, I didn't let it get to me.
