Stuart Has An Inoperable Multi Focal Glioblastoma

Donation protected
Stuart is a 42 year old normally fit healthy young man, my partner for 17 years, rock and soul mate. This is his story.....

On Monday 21st August Stuart was advised to go to A&E after suffering with pins and needles in his right arm and leg which had progressed to numbness and extreme sensitivity to touch. After having a CT scan he was told there were lesions showing on the left side of his brain and an MRI was required to look in more detail. The MRI showed multiple lesions/tumours to the entire left side of his brain which had caused the problems with the right side of his body from the neck down progressing to both focal and non-focal seizures which were difficult to get under control and over the course of the first 7 days the progression was quite rapid.

Unfortunately Stuart was not stable enough to attend Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham for an assessment with the seizures needing to be under control and over the first fourteen days two appointments were missed with a third booked but the potential of attending that one also in question due to the swift progression of the symptoms.

Sadly Stuart was advised that QMC had deemed a biopsy would be too dangerous for him and a full diagnosis was given via a video call with the neuro-oncologists on Monday 11th September twenty-one days after he was admitted to hospital.
He has been diagnosed with a high grade multi focal glioblastoma which covers the entire left side of his brain and is extremely aggressive and unfortunately inoperable.
This means he is now under the palliative care team and making the most of every day in the best way possible however even though the seizures are now under control Stuart has full paralysis on the right side of his body from the neck down and extreme limited mobility. Having been an active man playing airsoft most weekends he has found this very difficult and wants to be able to stay as mobile as possible by using a specialised powered wheelchair personalised for his specific needs while he is still in control of the left side of his body.Any additional funds will be helpful to provide a bit of financial stability to be able to do what he would like when he has the freedom to and create those memories.

He is taking each day as it comes, some are better than others and his determination and drive to fight this is second to none. We have already had one setback after being discharged from hospital with a bout of shingles on top of everything else and hope to be back home again soon after a brief hospice admission.

Any help would be appreciated, no matter how small your donation it will help to reach the goal to get Stuart back out in the fresh air
