Stuart is one of my best friends and has been like a second father to me. Him and his son Peyton moved to Idaho a couple years ago and were our neighbors.
We ended up having so much in common and got along so well that we spent most weekends together; even Thanksgiving and Christmas were spent with Stuart and Peyton.
Stuart was extremely active, loved the outdoors, and loved that he had finally built a home for himself and Peyton; his youngest son (in the picture above you will see Stuart and Peyton rafting with my girlfriend and I). This was Stuart in his element and such adventure was one of the reasons he had come to love Idaho so much.
In may I received a very alarming call from Peyton. He was in tears and saying that Stuart had been hit head-on in a dirtbike accident and was non-responsive. I was shocked because the night before they had both been over for dinner.
As it turns out Stuart had been going up a hill at an off road park (wearing a full-face helmet, chest protector, and all the safety equipment that he could have been wearing) when another rider crested the hill that Stuart was climbing and hit him head-on at a combined speed of 50 mph.
Being as Stuart was coming uphill he took the majority of the impact and was air lifted to the hospital. That day no one thought Stuart was going to make it. Thankfully he had a pulse and just survived (and I mean "just"). This event has left Stuart quadriplegic, unable to walk, and unable to do every-day tasks.
Insurance has been very fun and has made his accident more of a business than actually helping him. Stuart spent 45 days in a facility in Denver, Colorado yet has been left without proper physical therapy, a proper recovery plan, or the wheel chair that he actually needs in order to recover properly.
We are seeking to raise $20,000 in hopes of covering even a fraction of what it actually is going to cost to give Stuart a chance at living a somewhat normal life again and a chance at proper recovery.
Stuart helped anyone any time they needed it, he is kind-hearted, an extremely good father, a great friend, and a man of his word.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and not a soul on Earth deserves it more than Stuart.
