Student Athlete U After School Program

Did you know that last year about 7.25% of high school athletes met NCAA Clearing House standards. This means that 92.75% of student athletes were not able to participate in collegiate sports due to academics. My name is Vincent and I'm fundraising to kickstart an after school program geared toward young student athletes. I'm a firm believer in building strong foundations, something that our public school system isn't doing for each student. Being a former student athlete I've witnessed a lot of talented young men and women miss out on their dreams to play collegiate sports.

The Student Athlete U after school program will serve as a segue to our school Student Athlete U Academy which will be opening its doors fall 2022. By the conclusion of this upcoming school year, every student athlete that enrolls in our after school program WILL walk away spiritually and academically sound, athletically sound and with insight to many careers that are available to them upon graduation.

As a former teacher and understanding the current academic standards, we will ensure that students are met where they are at and receive a personalized academic enrichment program that will advance them in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. Using my background as a former student athlete and current trainer, students will participate daily in a training regimen that will enhance their performance in their respective sport. Spiritual development is something that I hold near and dear to my heart and will be implemented daily in our program. Students that participate in our after school program will take part daily in interactive devotions that will increase their character and integrity which is so important when interacting with other individuals. The final two pieces that will complete our program are financial literacy and college and career readiness. Every week, students will learn the importance of managing money through simulated interactive activities.

I went through four different majors while I was in college and settled on a major that was easy just so I could graduate on time after wasting two years. This is why our weekly college and career readiness sessions are so important to me. I am partnering with professionals from various careers to come in, interact with the students, and provide them with insight to their careers. I want these students to have as much knowledge as possible about all of the career choices that they have available to them when they enter the workforce.

As stated above, my Christianity and spiritual walk with God is something that I could not live without. God laid this program on my heart ten years ago and now, I'm finally taking action and moving in the direction God is leading me. I was hesitant on starting this Go Fund Me campaign because of my pride, but while doing my devotions two weeks ago God laid on my heart "It Takes A Village To Raise A Child" and told me to put my pride to the side, start this campaign, and allow him work everything out. So I am following and doing so confident that He will provide everything needed to run the after school program in its entirety.
