Student crashed into twice, needs car repair

Hi, my name is Emily Steinhoff James and I’m fundraising for my friend, Roni Nicole. On December 2nd, Roni was hit twice by two drivers leaving a gas station after working for Dinner Detective. One driver was unlicensed and uninsured. The other driver was unlicensed and had an insurance lapse. Roni only has liability insurance and even though she wasn't at fault, she has to cover her own repairs and hope the driver with lapsed insurance is able to renew.

Roni’s family mechanic assessed the outside of the vehicle last week and the following needs to be repaired:

-Hood

-Headlights 2xs

-Radiator (which she had just replaced earlier on the day of the accident)

-Cooling fans 2xs

-Fender

-Front bumper

-Wiper sprayer reservoir

Her mechanic is charging $600 to start and says that will cover preliminary repairs so Roni can get back on the road. He estimates at least $1100 of repairs. However, he can't open the hood without considerable effort. Therefore, he is unable to give a complete quote and the repairs could end up being more.

Roni is a student at ECU and she works for SEED Art Share, The Homeschool Experience, and Dinner Detective. She is pursuing her masters degree in business administration and is hoping to have her car in working by order by the time classes resume on January 7. She told me she literally can't afford to take Lyft anymore because of how expensive it is to get around Cary/Raleigh. And… to make matters worse, the poor thing has Covid right now and is trying to fight that off!

Roni didn’t want me to do a fundraiser… she said this time of year is tight for everyone and didn’t think want to ask with inflation being so bad and so many people hurting financially. But I insisted because it is the season of giving and I have faith that there are people out who are able and willing to help.
