Student Lunch Debt Project
Donation protected
After seeing a stranger pay off people's layaways at the holiday, I wanted to do something impactful for my own community so I turned to my local school districts student lunch debt. It turns out they had a balance of $232,000 that has accrued over a couple of years.
Since that time, I have raised $48,000 to make a dent in this big bill.
Because I live in Boulder, there is a common misperception that everyone is flush with cash. In fact, we have many working poor and our poverty line rate rests near 20% in the county.
Due to the overwhelming success of this initiative combined with the need for a less cumbersome way to give, I have started this go fund me as a way for people to easily give $4 or more.
Many of you have written to me and asked how I got started, here are some additional links that chart my progress:

Finally, please know my own 501c3 is in the works and I have plans for a larger initiative that will make the national case that all school lunch should be free. We nourish kid's minds for free, why not their bodies?
Thank you all!
