Help Studio59 students go to Dance World Cup Final

What’s it All About?

We are from Studio 59 Performing Arts and are looking for funding/sponsorship to help us with supporting 7 of our amazingly talented and dedicated students with costs of attending the Dance World Cup Finals in Prague in June/July this year, following their success in qualifying for a place in Team England.

This year, for the first time, we entered a number of our students for the England qualifiers for the Dance World Cup. The standard of competition is exceptionally high and we cannot be more proud of each and every one of our students who entered the qualifying round, all scoring 80% and above and coming in the top 50 places in England.

We are absolutely over the moon that on their very first time of entering we have students who placed 1 to 5 in their categories, scoring well over 80% and therefore gaining a place as part of Team England. Our Junior Competition Crew – Pitbulls, including soloists and one of our Senior duos, 7 students in all travelling to Prague for the Finals

All students have been training at the Studio in Hip Hop, Commercial and Breaking and Contemporary styles and were performing solos in the Boys Street Dance category, duos in Senior Contemporary and the Crew in the Group Street Dance. All choreography was done by our fantastic teachers Tori, Tyler and Rio. Their qualifying performances were by video submission and judged by DWC judges.

As a Studio, it is really important to us to be able to provide and extend opportunities to all of our students, whatever their age or ability level or social background. Gaining places in the England Team at such a prestigious event within the dance community is a massive success for all the students involved.

How will the Funds be Used?

As many people know, dance competitions are not cheap! There are significant costs involved in attending the competition which include entry & event fees, purchase of team kit, travel and accommodatio and there is no funding provided from Team England. Students are currently undertaking fundraising activities themselves in the form of things like bake sales, competitions etc. We always like them to learn the value of money and that everything doesn’t come delivered on a plate and we now have just under £1500 in the pot! However, we need to raise a total of £9000 in a relatively short timescale and are therefore looking for other funding and/or sponsorship opportunities

We would welcome any donations, however big or small to help our students get to Prague

What Is the Dance World Cup?

The DWC is a competition where 120,000 children around the world aged from 4 to 25 from 65 different countries try to qualify in their country for the DWC Finals which is held annually in a different location - the 2024 Finals are being held in Prague. It has been described as 'the best quality children and youths dance competition in the World' and 'the Olympics of dance'

In order to gain a place in the England Team, students had to score at least 70% and place 1 to 5 in their category in the England qualifiers which were held in November 2023.

What is Studio 59?

Studio 59 is a dance studio based in Halifax providing multi disciplinary training across all genres of dance, singing and acting. Each teacher at the Studio is currently working in the industry with background in music videos, West End shows, TV, fashion, backing dancer to music artists etc. and all are passionate about passing on their knowledge, experience and skills to the next generation of dancers! Our students range from age 3 to age 24 looking to dance for fun right through to our Academy level training for older students looking to progress through to professional level.

Who Are the Students?

Elis, Veer, Filip, Laura & Antoni are all part of our Junior Competition Crew - Pitbulls and are all aged 9 to 13. They have been training with us for a few years in hip hop, commercial and breakdancing but came together as a Crew in September 2023. Along with the success of the Crew in the England qualifiers for the Small Group Street Dance section, Elis, Veer and Filip also qualified as soloists in the Boys Street Dance section

Boo and Demi are two of our senior students who qualified in the Senior Contemporary Duet section

All of this on their very first time entering the competition!!

Business Sponsorship?

If any business would like to sponsor our team for a donation of £500 or more we can offer any sponsors their logo on our official Studio 59 Team England kit along with mentions on all our regular social media posts related to the DWC. In addition Studio 59 can include advertising in the programme for our end of year show which is being held at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax on 23 June this year.

More widely, we are happy to offer benefits for employees of any businesses sponsoring the Team including such things as class discounts, vouchers for employee incentive schemes, team building events.

What will Happen to any Excess Funds?

In the event of the funds raised over and above the costs of our students participation in the DWC Finals, including travel and accommodation costs, any excess will be put towards future competitions and shows to ensure that all our Studio 59 students are given the opportunity to take part

As a Studio, we work closely with local community groups and projects, providing support for their fundraising activities. So, in addition, we will donate a percentage of any excess to a local community charity or project helping young people in the area.
