Study Abroad for Alexias

Hi! My name is Alexias Hubbard. I'm a sophomore at South Plains College and a future transfer student to Texas Tech University. I'm majoring in British Literature and minoring in creative writing, two subjects that will extensively help with my childhood dream and now future career, becoming a successful author.

It has always been a dream of mine to travel to different countries and explore their culture and traditions, however, due to finances, that has not been possible. This summer, I applied to travel and study abroad in the British Isles for 11 days with South Plains College. I have been accepted into the program, however, I have not been able to raise enough money to secure my spot. I have applied for grants and scholarships as well as saved my own earnings, but have still fallen short of reaching my funding goal. Time is of the essence since my spot needs to be secured by August 30th, 2022, which is the first day of the fall semester. I need to turn in the money as soon as possible.

In the British Isles, I will visit the countries England, Ireland, and Wales and 9 different cities within. Throughout my time there, I will do everything from visit castles and museums while learning their intriguing history and culture, adventure through an Irish village that is a re-creation from the early 1800s that demonstrates the way life prevailed in the 19th century Ireland, see Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the magnificent Buckingham Place, all while enjoying English and Irish meals and much, much more.

This opportunity will be an immersive experience for my education, degree, and career, and will allow me to experience another culture other than my own.

I plan to document my entire travel through Facebook and Youtube. Any amount you donate will help. Whether it be $1, $5, $10 dollars, or more, it will be greatly appreciated! All the money will go towards my plane ticket, the program's cost, meals, hotels, and general travel expenses.
