Study Abroad in Ecuador 2024!

Hi! My names Hailey and I’m a 3rd year Secondary English Education major with a minor in Special Education as well as certification in ESL. I’m raising money to help pay for my trip to Ecuador for a study abroad opportunity in 2024 to teach at an high school/university level for 6 weeks, as well as receive my certification in ESL (English Second Language).

I am very passionate about teaching, and found a love for ESL after tutoring two elementary students who were emergent bilinguals. From this experience I realized the importance of being culturally literate and being an advocate and role model, and one of the best ways to gain true understanding of culture is to immerse oneself if it. I’m very driven to continue my education; I am planning on getting my masters in Special Education, and eventually one day completing research on early childhood development in children with learning disorders.

As you may know, these programs are extremely expensive. The program itself is $2200, but on top of that is approx. $1000 for flights to and from Ecuador, as well as three classes I’ll have to take in the summer, which is likely somewhere around $1500-2000. Luckily, I will get some scholarships, but these will not cover the entire cost.
