Stuff the Squad Cars

Now more than ever, it is so important to come together as a community and support each other for the benefit of our children and future. Partnering with the Manistee City Police, the Manistee County Sheriff's Department, and the Child Advocacy Center, I am facilitating a book drive called "Stuff the Squad Cars." This fundraiser will provide officers with books to keep in their cars and pass out to the children they meet on the job; children going through difficult situations, in need of a morale boost, or just for fun! The police force will be providing children with the gift of literacy and sparking joy to kids, as well as continuing to make a positive impact on the community as a whole. 1/3 of the books raised will also go to the Child Advocacy Center as they assist children in need from our community as well.

Donations - The monetary donations from this book drive will be used to purchase books from Usborne Books & More, which is a children's book publishing company that specializes in topics that help children deal with real life struggles and understand the world around them. The virtual book drive will be held on August 31-September 2, 2020, but donations will be accepted until Friday, September 18, 2020.

For every dollar donated, Usborne Books & More will match it by 50%! Our goal is $3,000 + the 50% match = $4,500 books for our community children!

As a member of this community, law enforcement supporter, an educator and a mother raising young children here, this book drive is very close to my heart. Building positive relationships with law enforcement while fostering literacy throughout Manistee County will have a great impact on the children in our area. Reading and access to books literally break patterns of poverty and crime so join us in the fight against statistics and put quality books into the hands of Manistee County children!
