Fundraising for Church Renovations
Dear Friends, please help us raise funds for our church renovations! We are starting major repairs this spring, as a large section of the basement needs to be replaced.
St. Vladimir’s Russo-Greek Orthodox Church in Edmonton, Alberta, is over 100 years old, and the foundation has started to crumble underneath the attached residence. We need to support the top floor, replace the basement and renovate the residence. This is a massive undertaking, and all donations are greatly appreciated! Our first target is to restore the integrity of the foundation. We will then continue with much-needed renovations to the basement and residence.

Our founder
In the 1930s, Archbishop Ioasaph Skorodumoff of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia came to Edmonton and purchased the current church building. He added on a residence, digging out the basement by hand and constructing a living area for himself with two small rooms and a workroom where he painted icons. Archbishop Ioasaph endured many deprivations while working tirelessly to establish parishes in Alberta. At one point he took care of about 40 parishes. He established a convent and a men’s skete. He constructed buildings and roads himself, planted gardens, chopped firewood for the winter and also constantly attended to the pastoral needs of parishioners scattered throughout the province. He was revered for his pious lifestyle and numerous missionary labours to expand and support Orthodoxy in the Western Diocese. His powerful prayers were known to heal sicknesses and even call down rain upon parched fields.
Milestones
· Excavate around the foundation
· Install structural supports for the upstairs residence
· Dig out the compromised section of the basement (foyer, bathrooms, kitchen,
and kids' playroom)
· Pour a new concrete floor and foundation
· Install new electrical, plumbing etc.
· Frame in and finish new rooms, including kitchen and bathrooms
· Repair upstairs walls, floors and stairs
Any leftover funds will be used to complete other pressing repairs.
