Surgery for Sammy
Tax deductible
This is Sammy's Story. He came to us from the streets of Hartford. The Street cats would chase him from the food. A person feeding caught him and found him friendly so she contacted us. He looked alittle rough, but was in good shape. He was Neutered , vaccinated and ready for adoption.
At the adoption center one of the volunteers told us he was breathing funny. When we checked he was fine. He was adopted into a home with 2 other cats, a dog, rabbit and other small pets. Everyone got along BUT the cats. Dog ... no problem. Rabbit , a gentleman. The resident house cats said NO! Since he was bullied before we brought him back into the rescue. We noticed when stressed he was breathing funny, but it passed quickly. The same day we brought him back he met his new Pet Parents. We talked about the breathing that we had seen. A few days after Sammy was brought home an appointment was made to check him.
Thinking it was something simple turn into Sammy having a life threating condition. Sammy has a Diaphragmatic Hernia, it is either something he was born with or an old injury. His organs move into his chest putting pressure on his lungs. He runs around in his new home, he loves it. Then he will stop and need rest because he gets winded.
The Surgeon who saw the xrays wonders how he is breathing. Without the surgery he won't live.
His new parents are retired on a fixed income. And we never would have let Sammy go into a home first if we had known. His surgery could cost up to $3500 . The real problem is our Doctor says if its something he was born with we might be ok. If its an old injury and his organs are healed into place we could be in trouble.
We feel the risk is worth a quality of a good life. We are looking for help. he is going to get the surgery October 4th at Bolton veterinary hospital . I'm going to run this for the week to see how we do to help Sammy.
Thank you folks, you know we don't do this to much. Most of the "Problems" we have we can handle. This is something to costly for us to do alone.
