Flooded But Not Defeated

Hi, my name is Kathryn and on July 2, 2023 our apartment was flooded due to a flash flood warning that turned into an absolute disaster in Chicago. People lost their cars, businesses were ruined, and we lost our home and all of our possessions due to flood damage. At first we thought nothing of it… a little water accumulated in our basement apartment, nothing we couldn’t handle. But before we knew it our home was underwater. Bedding, furniture, shoes, clothing all gone from being drenched in sewer water that was way above our knees. We attempted to recover as much as possible but we could not continue to subject our health to all the waste. I am currently the soul provider of my home which includes my children and grandchild. We basically lost everything… furniture, clothing, shoes, food, and last but not least a place for us to rest our head. I am requesting any help possible so that I may find a place for me and my family to reside and rebuild our lives. Thank you.
