Our Story
SubZero Robotics is a FIRST robotics team from Esko, Minnesota. This is our third year competing in FIRST robotics. We competed at the Lake Superior Regional which took place from March 1st-4th. This was located in Duluth, Minnesota. At this regional, we were ranked 52nd, but this didn't stop us from being selected to the second alliance for playoffs. We, unfortunately, fell in the finals to the 1st seeded alliance. We continued to carry hope as we knew we weren't done yet. Our second regional took place in Cedar Falls, Iowa during March 22nd-25th. We ended up ranked 3rd before playoffs started. We chose fantastic alliance members who helped us make it to the finals once more. This time, though, there was a different outcome. We were able to upset the 1st seeded alliance and win the regional. With this win came an automatic invite to the world competition in St. Louis, Missouri which takes place April 26th-29th. We also plan on touring a John Deere factory in Moline, Illinois on our way down to championships. We were offered this opportunity after winning the Iowa regional. Our team is so excited for the adventures and opportunities that lay ahead because of our opportunity to go to St. Louis.
Funding
As you can imagine, there is a financial need that comes along with bringing our team to St. Louis. We estimate that anywhere from 40-50 students and mentors will be going on this trip. We are also hoping to bring along some of our FLL (FIRST Lego League) mentors along with us. The bus to St, Louis alone will cost us nearly 7,000 dollars. Money raised will go to bussing, hotels, and meals along the road. Any donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
