Sudden and Unexpected Loss of Dad.

My family and I are still grieving from the sudden and recent loss of my dad, Gary R. Anderson on August 29th, 2021. Even though Dad had most of the funeral planning and expenses taken care of, he did not have a will. We are faced with a long and expensive legal process to settle his estate. We just met with a probate attorney and were told this process could take as long as a year to be able to settle the estate. The retainer for the attorney to begin the process is $1000. Neither Jason nor I are in a financial position to cover the retainer or dad’s household expenses for an extended period of time. Jason and his wife are teachers in MS. I am a teacher’s assistant, my husband is in nursing school and we have a 5-month-old daughter.
