Sudden Blue - Sabine McCalla's First Record
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
I would be honored if you would be a part of the success of my first solo record!
Right now I have the opportunity to get into the studio with Sam Doores of The Deslondes. I have chosen to work with Sam because I wanted to work within the community I have developed in New Orleans as well as work with a dear friend who has witnessed my development as an artist. I know that Sam will be able to help me capture the many different genres that influence my songwriting.
What began several years ago as an idea to put a band together and put out an album kept getting delayed because of so many circumstances. Covid swept over the world and my band was dismantled. And in the past four years my style has ebbed and flowed. Sudden Blue is an homage to that moment and a release of several songs I’ve held onto and written during this time.
Some of the musicians that will be featured on this record will be prolific multi-instrumentalist and singer Howe Pearson, Roy Brenc on upright, Gina Leslie on electric bass, Ajai Combelic and Dave Hammer on guitar. The Lostines, Leonie Evans, Tif Lansome, Maddy Kirgo and Sam Gelband on backup vocals. Serious stunners!
The little money I have been able to raise isn’t enough. I still need more funds to:
1. Pay musicians
2. studio time for overdubbing
3. mixing
4. mastering
My $7,500 goal will enable me to cover all of these expenses. If I’m able to exceed my goal all surplus funds will go towards packing, designing and promoting this record so it can get into the homes of as many people as possible!
Risks and Challenges
Without proper funding, things may not come together quite the way I was planning for. That said, I am planning to release the album in the fall of 2023 so that I’m able to navigate whatever setbacks come my way.
I truly feel with your support we will be able to make a truly beautiful record.
