“This is the true joy in life, being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one. Being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances, complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy. I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it what I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work, the more I live. Life is no brief candle to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to my children and future generations.”
George Bernard Shaw
This was the poem my Mother lived by, she’d recite it after every ropes course and community activity she lead to inspire the many people she had the pleasure of working with. She dedicated her life to community and “sharing the love”, with the most vulnerable. Her mantra she thoroughly exercised in every way possible.
On October 4th she was tragically taken from us in a pedestrian vehicle collision, just months after we lost our baby brother & we are reaching out to ask for help and support.
My mother devoted her life to the community by helping the Pacifica School District in any way possible from fundraising to volunteering her time to enriching the lives of the children in her community. She worked extensively with at risk youth, the homeless, and senior citizens through activism, fundraising, & most importantly volunteering her time by sharing her knowledge & lending an ear to anyone that needed it.
She cared for Mother Earth & honoring her indigenous heritage by doing beach cleanups, educating the community on many different environmental issues and in her everyday life. She volunteered her time as an environmentalist educator at the Wilderness School to help mentor generations of our youth. Our mother was a volunteer, activist, environmentalist, and life long friend to everyone she met.
For anyone that knew her, even if only briefly, it was undeniable that she would leave her mark. I will treasure every lesson she ever taught me. She was a vibrant soul taken too soon from us all.
After the loss of our baby brother just 6months ago our family is reeling with grief & are reaching out to all of you for help to raise funds for her funeral expenses. Any amount will help and is greatly appreciated.
If you can’t contribute with a monetary donation please share this link so we can honor our Mother’s transition and take some financial burden off of our family.
I’d also like to welcome anyone that loved her to attend her services, thank you all so much for the outpour of love & condolences. It has been overwhelmingly heartwarming to know how many peoples lives our mother touched.
Wishing you all much love & continued blessings.
