Sue Green Liver Transplant Expense Assistance

Donation protected
Over a year ago, I was unexpectedly diagnosed with a very serious liver disease and told that I would not survive without a liver transplant.  My liver disease was due to an undetected underlying condition (not alcohol related), and by the time I was diagnosed, my doctors told me that the disease was in its end stages and I would not survive more than one or two years without a transplant.  Since then, I have undergone both chemotherapy and radiation to reduce the size of tumors in my liver.

My friends and community rallied around me and shared my story widely on social media. Miraculously, my half-sister, Christina, saw it and offered to be a living donor and donate a portion of her liver to me.   My sister is a match, and my transplant surgery is scheduled at the University of Pittsburgh for January 4th.

There are many costs associated with the liver transplant that will not be covered by my health insurance.  For example, I have to stay in Pittsburgh for several months after the surgery for ongoing care.  In addition, I will need to be on an extensive drug regimen after my surgery and my health insurance does not cover the entire costs of those drugs.

Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated. Reaching out to my community to ask for help is no easy task.  I love and appreciate you all.  My family will post updates here as they become available, leading up to the transplant and through the recovery.  Thank you.
