Candy Store Needs Your Help

Sugar Ray’s Sweet Shop has been opened for one year now. For several months, we were going in the right direction. It was gratifying to see our hard work, commitment and long hours adding to our success. Upon opening and even now, street closures and the lack of internet, due to major construction in the Downtown area along with little to no parking, installing fiber, and 2 store break-ins. This turned the tide for us in a negative way. Customers told us they couldn't get to us due to the mess our street was in. Attendance at our events dropped off considerably due to street closure and lack of parking. For several months, we had no sidewalk and potential customers hesitated to walk across to get to our store! There was no visibility on an already busy street. Our business plan did not account for this major interruption in business, which is why we are asking for your help...because we need your help! If we don't get some funding, our doors will have to be closed and the community will lose an independent candy store that is a great place to gather, and where we host many events. It was our goal to create a sense of nostalgic for both the young and the old.
We, the owners put a lot on the line and invested over $50,000 of our own money to secure the building to open. We did this because we believe in this venture and not because we expected to get rich. However, we never foresaw something as unexpected as street construction, having to install fiber, and break-ins hindering our progress towards success.
We have many ideas in the coming months and need to order product for them, as well as other merchandise for the holiday season, while a sizeable monthly loan payment looms over us. We have been very grateful for the warm welcome that we received from Jackson and the surrounding communities. Our customers have been very loyal and supportive and we love being part of the community. Therefore, if you like what we bring to the Jackson, can you please help us keep our doors open? To do this, we are trying to raise $20,000 to get us back on our feet by the end of the month. Many of you have asked us not to leave the community...please help us stay by contributing to our fund and spreading the word.
