Pregnant Refugee Killed in GA- Crossing Road

Donation protected
I don't know where to start and how to express my emotions as I am processing the efforts to help an Afghan family in need. My name is Safa. I have been a volunteer who's helped Afghan families resettle here in Georgia. It is with sadness to share this news.

On June 27th, 2022, an Afghan Refugee woman, who was 6 months pregnant, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street with her 9-year-old son. This incident occurred in Snellville Georgia as she was trying to find the means of transportation from Clarkston GA to the Hospital and visit her eldest daughter who was ill.

Unfortunately, Sajida and the unborn baby did not survive. Her son lives to tell his story and in the manner of such bravery, he said “I held her hand to not cross, but then the car came, hit her and she flew in the air. That's when I knew she flew up to God”.

The Hussaini family fled the violence and turmoil in Afghanistan to come to the United States with only a backpack and the hopes to start a new life. Her husband worked with the Special Forces of United States military and is also a Welder. He was in TX at the time of the incident because in TX, the driver permit is available in Dari language. In Georgia it is not, which has delayed a lot of the Afghan families’ from receiving their drivers license. They rely on caseworkers to help with transportation and volunteers in the community. When Mr. Hussaini heard the news of Sadija, he rushed back to see his daughter was transported by an Ambulance to the hospital, and his wife transported to the mortuary.

Sajida was only 34 years old and left behind her husband, four young daughters, and one son. No amount of money will compensate for the loss of a mother, so this request has been made on behalf of the community to help alleviate the financial struggles they are already facing and ensure that the children will receive adequate long-term care and assistance for the Hussaini’s living expenses during this difficult time. Any contribution to support the Hussaini family would be greatly appreciated.

Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'in (Verily we belong to Almighty and verily to him we return).
