Sullivan Family Farms part of Williams Lake Fire
Donation protected
My name is Monique Smith, and I am fundraising for Sullivan Family Farms. They unfortunately are in the middle of the Williams Lake Fire in Cheney, WA and have suffered major losses.
They are an amazing little family run farm outside of the great town of Cheney, WA that provides flowers, baked goods, beef, eggs, and other farm goods to the local community. The owner, Louise Sullivan, started her little farm after a long term battle of domestic violence and divorce litigation that lasted more than seven years. She was able to overcome the many years of abuse to start this new chapter of joy. She partners with many different local small businesses in the area to house their products and goods at the farm stand and online to also support them.
Unfortunately, fire has now overtaken this little farm and she is in trouble. Right now, she has an ox named Sprite who is the heart of the farm and Louise's beloved pet. He was injured in the fire by walking over hot ashes trying to get home. He is receiving medical care at this time, but is highly valuable to Louise and this little farm. Some people have dogs or cats as their cherished pets, Louise has Sprite. Sprite is the original and initial animal that started the farm. They raised him as a bottle calf. His medical care and treatment is extremely important. Sprite and Louise lost Sprite’s partner Coke a while back and it would be a devastating blow and brutal loss for this farm.
Although the amazing firefighters and neighbors were able to save the house and barn, they still sustained massive losses. She lost major parts of the flower fields, 100 tons of hay, timber, fences, equipment and so much more. More than 50% of the pastures have been burned and lost as well. She needs help repairing fencing, getting hay, replacing equipment and supplies, medical care for her animals and rebuilding.
She is still currently in a Level 3 evacuation but has stayed to help the incredible firefighters to save her animals, barn and home. No one is allowed to the farm to come and help at this time because it isn’t safe yet.
She has herds of cattle she is moving from area to area, trying to keep them out of the hot ash and ongoing fires still on her property, while also trying to keep them with food/field grass and get them water. Most of her irrigation and water lines were completely destroyed.
Once the fire is out, Louise will need hay as soon as possible. It’s not safe to have it brought in now. She is able at this time to move large squares but not round bales. She needs to get Sprite medical care and seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
Please help this amazing woman and her little farm in Cheney!
