Sullivan, IN Tornado Victims
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Victoria and I am raising money for victims of the super cell tornado that decimated my home town of Sullivan, Indiana on the night of March 31. Over 200 structures were completely destroyed-mostly homes. 3 people were killed and the hospital is completely full with severe injuries including children. A lot of these families did not have much to lose to begin with and are not well insured. Everything they had -blown away. Medical and rebuilding bills will be crippling to say the least. Anything you can give will help whether it be $5 or $500 - the money will be distributed to those that need it most -medical, funeral, living, rebuilding expenses depending on how much is raised. Thank you and please pray for this small town, heart of America, Indiana community.
Update 6/16/23-After speaking with multiple town members, I have decided to distribute the funds to one sole beneficiary and her children to make a more substantial impact rather than divide and dilute the funds. Brittany Nesbitt, a single mother of two, had overcome many challenges including addiction and abuse. After getting back on her feet and working her way into a new career, she finally got to live in a home with her young children. She then turned around to help other single, struggling moms in the community through her involvement with Ruth House. Then the tornado took every material possession she and her children had, wiping away almost everything she had worked for. Luckily, they did not lose their lives, but the home where they became a family. A generous local family offered Brittany a rental property of theirs to buy so she could start fresh and build a home of memories with her children once again. Other local donors and including the funds from this GoFundMe will help that dream come true by contributing to the down payment for the home. Pictured you will see Brittany holding a sign salvaged from her destroyed home. A photograph that captures her unwavering faith and her brave resilience.
