Sullivan VFW Post #2459 Tornado Relief Fund
Donation protected
On March 31, 2023, an EF-3 tornado destroyed 200 buildings in Sullivan County, Indiana, one of which was Sullivan VFW Post #2459. The building at 201 W. Illinois St., Sullivan, IN had served as the home for Sullivan County VFW members for nearly 40 years. It proudly displayed an iconic symbol of Sullivan, a UH-1 Huey helicopter, which had flown in the Vietnam War and was subsequently flown by three Sullivan VFW Post #2459 members during their service in the Indiana Army National Guard. The Sullivan VFW has had a rich history of supporting local veterans that served in every armed conflict from WWII to the Global War on Terror, as well as, serving the local community as a whole.
100% of proceeds from this relief fund will be utilized to aid in uninsured recovery efforts and to hopefully get a new helicopter display. Sullivan, IN VFW Post #2459 is a 501(c)(19) tax-exempt non-profit organization; therefore, contributions made by donors are tax-deductible. It is important to note that there may be certain limits or restrictions on the amount of the deduction depending on various factors such as the donor's income and type of donation made, so a tax professional should be consulted for more information.
VFW Post #2459 EIN Number is 35-6068093. This can be confirmed on the IRS website (link provided below).
As we come together to rebuild VFW Post 2459, we are not only supporting our local veterans but also honoring their sacrifice and service. Let's show our gratitude by ensuring that they have a safe and welcoming place to call their own and share with the local community.
Respectfully,
Evan Hamilton, former Air Force Captain, Operation Enduring Freedom Veteran, and resident of Sullivan, IN.
