Sully’s HUS Fight
Donation protected
For those who don’t know the story, my sisters 15 mo old son Sullivan was admitted to the hospital in Rogers, AR on August 23rd for possible dehydration. What started as what we thought was a stomach bug, quickly escalated into being transferred via helicopter to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock for Renal Failure. After extensive labs and testing he was diagnosed with Shiga Toxin Producing E.Coli Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (STEC-HUS). He was experiencing acute renal failure. He quickly went to surgery to have a hemodialysis catheter inserted and experienced his first Partial dialysis treatment that day. After a rocky start he went on to have several blood transfusions, several more dialysis treatments, picc line insertion, another surgery for a new hemodialysis tunneled catheter and several more treatments and obstacles. After 17 days in the hospital, in which 7 were in ICU, they were released to go home. Sullivan will need to routinely follow up with a Nephrologist in Little Rock, which is a 3 hour commute from Ryan and Karmin’s home. He may get the chance to follow up closer to home with nephrology if appointments are available at a later date. I am raising money to help alleviate the stress of medical bills and any future appointments and travel that come up.
