summer tranzitional fund 2.0

2024 Update: Still very much in need while in between my teaching jobs & upcoming exhibition. As many of you know, I was in the hospital for a mental health episode this Spring & while feeling much better (with therapy/medication) I'm still looking for stable (additional) work.

TLDR: My 2023 was upended by a failed engagement & having to move. My art practice, mental/physical health, & financial stability have suffered with the shifts in the algorithm. Help me survive the summer while I apply for grants/jobs & get the rest of my legal transitional documents complete.

For those following along, my “comebaq” was curtailed by a messy and draining break up resulting in me having to vacate my shared home & move in the course of two weeks. Paired with lapsing in my hormone therapy & disordered eating, I’ve spent the bulk of the last two months in & out of depressive episodes & bouts of agoraphobia.

Parallel to my personal BS, the internet as we know it is dying away. From the collapses & increased censorship of social media, the few digital bastions of mutual aid online are crumbling. The algorithm is not on the side of Trans folks, Black women, alternative content creators & I wish to find community beyond it. Alas, it has been my consistent money maker since leaving the non-profit world in 2016. I truly don’t know what’s next.

I’ve been struggling to maintain my Patreon to the quality I want. I’ve been unable to execute the few art opportunities offered. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received & wish to sustain myself better. I want to furnish my new room & home. I want to update my passport & ID. I need to get more of my official documents in my legal name. I want to be able to afford a month’s of groceries.

I just would like to not waste the summer stressed in agony. I want to invest in myself in the ways I can but I need so much help still. Thank you to those who consistently give, those who share, & those who over-extend, I’m so grateful.
