Sumo Logic for Team Nikic
Donation protected
Breaking barriers and raising ceilings comes at a cost. Chris Nikic is the first person with Down syndrome to complete an Ironman-a grueling 140.6-mile race, with the help of his guide, Dan Grieb. Chris & Dan have been invited to do the Ironman World Championship which is known to be one of the hardest Ironman events on the planet.
We are inviting our Sumo community to help us change the world and raise the ceiling, for people like Chris, by contributing and sponsoring Chris's journey to Ironman Hawaii.
Due to his special needs, Chris requires more than the average person to prepare, train, and travel to Hawaii more than once. He must travel with Dan and several support people. Chris requires specialized equipment and requires a lot more on-location training time, in order to give him time to acclimate to the heat and prepare for the race.
All of this comes at a cost, those costs are worth it because Chris is changing the narrative around what is possible for people like him. There is a world of people that have been told that "they would not amount too much" that Chris represents when he races. This race will finally put to rest the low expectations put on people with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities! This is more than a race, this is a test of the barriers of what is possible.
If you would like to join Team Nikic and supporting Chris and Dan, please donate! Let's show Chris that Sumo's are in it with him!
