Sun Rise Restaurant

Donation protected
Alba Guerra, owner of Sun Rise Restaurant and long standing community member is in need of support. Starting April 1st, 2018 Sun Rise Restaurant will have a dramatic rent increase. Recently Alba was informed that her rent would increase by $3,000 a month starting April 1st, 2018. This equals an additional $36,000.00 a year.

Alba moved to San Francisco in 1989 from El Salvador and quickly made the city her home. She worked in different restaurants for years and always dreamed of opening her own spot. Finally, in 2005 she opened Sun Rise on 24th street, a Latin and American diner that highlights Salvadoran cuisine. Over the past 13 years Sun Rise has become a staple of the Mission community; not only as a beloved eatery but also as a host of numerous community and activist events over the years.  Alba wants to be able to continue to serve quality food for affordable prices on 24th street.

On top of facing an extreme rent increase, Alba will also have to undergo surgery later this year which will force her to take 3 months off from work, and this will increase her labor costs.

Alba has been moved by the vocal support she has gotten since the articles in El Tecolote and Mission Local.

Please help keep this local establishment open and thriving!
