"Sun Shine Through" Sculpture Installation
Donation protected
This fundraiser is organized by Spokane artists Mallory Battista and Lisa Soranakato to install our large mosaic sculpture at the border of the Emerson-Garfield and North Hill neighborhoods as part of a neighborhood gateway sign on North Monroe street just down the hill from the Garland District. The sculpture is being built during our studio residency at the Spokane Public Library's The Hive®, and it will be covered in a mosaic of stained glass as well as tiles made with the public at free community workshops throughout our residency.

Materials for the sculpture have been funded through our 2022 SAGA grant award, and our sculpture has been endorsed and approved by the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood Council, North Hill Neighborhood Council, Spokane Art Commission, Garland Business District, and North Monroe Business District, and it is projected to be complete and ready to install in April 2023.
The sculpture mortared, awaiting the mosaic.
While funding for the creation of the sculpture has been secured, we are seeking funds for the concrete platform that will serve as the gateway sign and the plinth for the "Sun Shine Through" sculpture, and the installation, lighting, and basic landscaping with drought tolerant candytuft. Funds raised above these expenses will be appreciated as compensation for the hundreds of hours of work and planning by the artists since autumn 2021. Thank you for any help you can provide to this community effort!
