Help Support Sun YuSheng's Family

Sadly, just before Thanksgiving, our community lost a valuable, beloved member and cherished friend, YuSheng Sun. YuSheng was an amazing person. He was smart, gracious, and kind. He was an integral part of so many lives - not just immediate family, but also within the NFL, the Mandarin-speaking school community, and his kids' competitive ice-hockey world. He was a devoted friend, coworker, father, and husband. While I was YuSheng's coworker, I was personally grateful to have called him a friend; I always looked forward to seeing him during our morning school drop-off, as our sons go to the same elementary school. Then after our commute to work, I always enjoyed walking into our office together from our cars, while continuing to chat about our families and our lives. I was also lucky enough to run into him on occasion at the ice rink with his kids during hockey practice.

YuSheng was an active and devoted parent of three. He did all the morning school drop-offs and went to every MI school event and parent/teacher conference that he could juggle within his busy schedule. He not only managed his kids' school schedules, but also shuttled them to and from, and attended, all their ice hockey practices and competitions.

Unfortunately, YuSheng had high blood pressure. And, on the Sunday before Thanksgiving, he suffered a fatal stroke.

His unexpected passing has left a giant hole in YuSheng's family. His wife, Vicki, is now caring for their three children (4th, 6th, and 9th graders) and her elderly mother-in-law, alone. As the primary breadwinner and very involved co-parent, his loss is a serious blow to the family. To help them through this difficult time, I am organizing this GoFundMe to assist them through this transition, to alleviate some of the burden that Vicki now carries.

I also know many of you at both the NFL and the MI school community have expressed a desire to show the impact YuSheng had on your life as well as support his family following this sudden and tragic loss. YuSheng will be greatly missed in every aspect of his life.

We know that money will never replace the legacy that YuSheng left behind, but I hope this GoFundMe will go far in helping Vicki, their three children, and her mother-in-law. Please use this GoFundMe as a vehicle to both convey your connection and gratitude for YuSheng's many contributions and as a way to concretely make a difference for his family. I know all words of support will also be appreciated by his family.
