Sunbury Skiff & Punting Club 24hour Challenge
Sunbury Skiff & Punting Club (SSPC) was founded in 2010 as a non-profit sports club and is the youngest club in the Skiff Racing Association. Our racing boats are traditional Thames skiffs and we are hoping to build a permanent boat shed at Desborough Sailing Club, to protect the wooden skiffs and blades through all weathers and have a place to maintain them. At present they are outside, exposed to the elements which leads to them becoming damaged.
So we are raising funds by challenging ourselves to skiff non-stop, for 24hours around Desborough Island on the River Thames.
Starting at 5pm on Friday 19th April, we will row traditional Thames skiffs in relay laps around the Island, continually to 5pm the next day. We are aiming to up to 48 laps or more.
Support us be sponsoring us per lap, or by making a donation or by coming and cheering us on.
By donating you will be helping a traditional sport survive and an enthusiastic sports club of 30 members keep racing, training and skiffing.
