Help Sunrise Books stay running while on leave

Hello! My name is Edith Johnson, I own Sunrise Books. A Black-woman owned childrens bookstore in the heart of NE Portland. We’ve created a space of joy, play and gathering. We use books as a vehicle to bring folks into community and inspire littles to fall in love with books! In the next coming months(mid-April to be exact) I will be going on Maternity leave. Since I am the only employee at the moment, the bookstore will be closed most days(only open to sustain storytimes)

During this time book sales will be low or close to none.

I’m asking for $10,000.

•rent April-July($1,050)=$4,200

•inventory-$1,800

•create another arm of business w/ subscription boxes-$2,000

•pay for in-store help while on maternity leave-$2,000.

At the moment ALL SALES will go to paying for the rent and re-occurring fees and bills.

Sunrise Books has been a joyful space to connect, play and read for everyone! I’m so thankful for all the support!!! ANY amount will help or sharing this GoFundMe with others.
