In loving memory of Lalouse Awna Tinowit, Patricia Anne Selam, Smilin’ Patty.
52 years of strength, beauty, and resiliency. She was THE once in a lifetime kind of person.
Her smile lit up rooms and her laugh was so infectious. She had the most compassionate heart. Her giving was limitless. Her rebellious spirit was unwavering and powerful.
She received her AA at Olympic College, BA at Northwest Indian College, and her MA at University of Las Vegas. She was such a nerd and loved learning.
She gave the gift of life to six daughters and two sons. Through her gift of life, she was blessed as a kuthla to 18 mo’opunas or as she would say GLAMMA.
She was INDIGENOUS through and through. That strength embodied her entire being. She was a proud member of the Yakama Nation Tribe. She comes from a strong lineage and that was undeniable once you met her. She was a traditional dancer that loved to Pow Wow whenever she had the opportunity to put her mocs on. She grew up in Longhouse learning her traditional ways but her spirit brought her elsewhere.
Through this journey, she became a member of the Sacred Water Canoe Family. Where she would jam out, pray and sing all night if she could.
Through this journey, she embraced the Hawaiian Culture for her keikis. She learned it, she made sure her kids learned it, and became a beautiful hula dancer that led her Ohana in grace and beauty. She loved music. She was the true aloha to our family. We have been yearning for our mom to return home. We humbly ask if you have the room to help, we would really love to bring her home from Arizona and lay her to rest among her loved ones, in her traditional ways. We appreciate your thoughts, your prayers, and your donations. Sing one for Patty! Dance one for Patty! And smile! You know she would want you to!
