Sunshine’s Dream Guitar Fund

During the start of COVID-19 Sunshine picked up the guitar that was originally purchased for me and starting playing around with it. She looked up chords and tabs on the internet and because she already has such an amazing ear for music, she started playing.

She would play around for hours at a time. It was such a good way for her to play around with writing her own stuff. She wrote a song about COVID and they actually played it on her school news and later on the Charleston County School Superintendent invited her to play her song on a statewide Zoom meeting.

In August 2020 she started virtual lessons and was killing it. Later she started playing with her guitar teacher in a worship band. Her confidence and skill has grown so much over the last year. Playing guitar gives her a chance to be more creative musically and encourages her to write her own.

Anyone who knows this kid knows that she is always singing and has been her whole life. We have done everything we can to provide the most opportunities possible…yes I’m such a stage mom haha. We recently took her to guitar center just to look around and she saw her (yeah she says it’s a her) and asked the sales guy if she could play it and as her parents we literally had to walk away because we saw how happy it made her to hold this guitar in her hands and we did not need to be buying it haha and we would have. She was in heaven.

As a joke I posted the pic on this fundraiser asking who wanted to pitch in and so many responses came in! So awesome to see such a great community rooting for her to succeed. I wasn’t comfortable with her just taking money without earning it, so on September 19, 2021 Sunshine will be performing songs on Facebook live and will accept “tips” and she will use those to buy her dream guitar.

Thank you for always supporting her and liking videos and making comments. If she only saw what we all did but it builds her up so much to hear the great things everyone has to say about her talent.
