Super Heroes HS Animal Shelter Building Fund

Tax deductible

Super Heroes Humane Society, a primarily volunteer-run humane society, was founded because of an incredible demand in the community for low-cost spay/neuter programs, a free pet food pantry, and assistance obtaining emergency veterinary care. We were officially registered as a Humane Society in New York State and recognized as a 501(c)(3) in 2018. Our volunteer group has grown immensely since then and we are so grateful. By teaming up together we are able to accomplish much more for the community. Super Heroes HS shelter facility is located in rural Oneonta, NY. We also use a robust network of foster homes because we understand how important a home setting is for the animals’ well being. We've found homes for over 1500 animals since we started.

Our skyrocketing growth is fueled by community need and we need a new space! We are so fortunate to be able to stop leasing and have secured a building of our own. However, it is an empty shell and we need to raise the funds to turn our new building into the welcoming, caring animal shelter our animals and community deserve.

Our new space will allow us to provide our free, temporary boarding program for pet owners in crisis, whether it be a lengthy hospital stay, homelessness, or taking refuge in a domestic violence shelter.  Along with updated, humane animal housing, we need community space to provide more outreach and educational programming. Given the hundreds of animals on our waiting list, we know our shelter will fill up immediately. It may sound contrary, but our goal isn't to fill our building with animals, it's to do whatever we can to keep them out of the shelter! Our new space will allow us to educate the community on the importance of early spay/neuter, responsible pet ownership, humane animal treatment, dog training, animal behavior, and anything else that helps the animals and the people that love them stay together.

Construction of an animal housing facility is not cheap! Specialized HVAC systems designed to reduce airborne disease spread, surfaces that can withstand daily disinfection, soundproofing, and materials that are tougher than (pet) nails are all costly. Building out our new facility will cost over $675,000 for phase one.

We are so grateful for any donation you can give toward our building fund. Please help us help them!
