IMPACT FUNDS GO TOWARDS DEVELOPING:
- a web presence,
- movie collateral, and
- post-screening & hosting tools!
THE IMPACT: "Super Human Anxiety" is a short film aimed at being part of a cinema therapy tool for creating productive and healing conversations around teen anxiety. The short length of the movie (8-min) + expert-created educational tools are designed to encourage teens to openly talk about their anxiety. When an organization or mental health professional uses the film as part of their cinema therapy sessions, they are utilizing a therapeutic approach to helping teens gain insight into their own choices and thoughts. It can strengthen a teen’s capacity to regulate emotions and build resilience for managing difficult situations.
In order to have the best outcomes, what happens AFTER a viewing of the film is key. Productive and meaningful discussions can help teens and support networks discover new perspectives and learn healthy coping strategies.
D) ABOUT: “Super Human Anxiety” is about a teenage girl who thinks she’s hiding her strong emotions well. But, when her elevator breaks down, fate forces her to out her secret.
The story of "Super Human Anxiety" was written for –
- Teens to see characters facing similar struggles, feel a sense of empathy, and foster a sense of belonging. The goal is to reduce feelings of isolation that can make a teen feel like they are alone in their struggles.
- Therapists to use the narrative of the film to help guide teens to analyze the story structure and underlying message.
- Parents and other support networks to watch the film and gain understanding of feelings and challenges in new ways.
TIMING: Festival premiere in July 2024 | free screenings for health care providers and teen supporters - September 2024

WE'VE COME A LONG WAY (so far)!!
We spent much of 2023 raising the funds and securing partnerships needed to:
- build the set with an elevator that had movable walls and floors we could dent and smash through + detailed elements like buttons, air vent, and doors,
- build special effect objects our main character breaks, bends, snaps, and cracks,
- hire a talented cast and crew (& obtaining union approvals during an industry strike),
- procure a complete wardrobe for each actor,
- purchase insurance for the production,
- feed the cast & crew with all sorts of healthy yumminess, and
- shoot the movie with Canon C70 Cinema 4K cameras for a quality film product (and giving us the flexibility during the edit).
