Thanksgiving Day, 2011: Kendric was diagnosed with brain cancer. He was 3 years old. Kendric defied the odds and eventually, he was able to live a fairly healthy and happy life. We were all very hopeful and praying that Kendric would be free from any further health challenges. Unfortunately and without any warning, Kendric was hit by another bomb...

April 20, 2023: Kendric was living a normal life as a high school freshman, proudly making above average grades, passionately playing his favourite sports (basketball, tennis), freely hanging with his close circle of friends.. completely excelling and enjoying his life when the treatment effects of childhood cancer attacked him, causing a brainstem stroke. Mom and Kendric were immediately rushed to the IWK in Halifax. His 2 little brothers and father had to stay home to continue with their routines (school, sports, friends) and ensure their lives remained reasonably balanced. After about a month at the IWK, Kendric was stable enough to be transferred to the Stan Cassidy Rehab Centre, where Mom and Kendric have since remained. Discharge is set and only a few weeks away. Although the family is eager and looking forward to being together again, life for Kendric will look a lot different than it did a few months ago. This is where I need your help! Mom, a registered nurse has been off of work to be with Kendric and she will have to continue to be off of work once they get home so she can care for him. The family does have health insurance that covers a few of the expenses; however, they will have the added monetary stress of equipment and medications that are not covered, deductibles, co-pays, private therapy costs, medical aids, travel costs for medical appointments, renovations and incidentals that will rapidly add up and ultimately cause a considerable financial burden to this incredible family.
