https://www.superate.org.sv Yay! I am turning 60 today ! I know, I know … I can’t believe it either! I feel 49 and ready to tackle another adventure!
To celebrate, I’d like to show my appreciation and respect to my beautiful home country of El Salvador, by honoring its youth, our most valuable treasure and our future. To do so I have decided to support SUPERATE in its continuous quest to empower our underprivileged youth by building up their computer skills, English and values. How do I exactly plan to support SUPERATE? By helping raise $60,000.00, which is part of the amount needed to buy 899 Lenovo tablets at $100.00 each. These tablets are essential for our young students to continue their studies virtually since they have been unable to do it because of the virus.
Let me give you a brief history of SUPERATE. First of, I’m proud to say that my brother in-law, Ricardo Sagrera, started it in 2004 and my father supported him by establishing the second SUPERATE center in our shoe factory ADOC. Since then, many other centers have been established around the country. Ricardo identified the need and the opportunity to develop a program that could bridge the growing demand created by industrial parks and service companies’ call centers throughout the San Andres Valley and underprivileged youth from public schools. These businesses needed young talent who spoke English and had good computer skills, subjects which were not sufficiently taught in public schools.
A pilot center was created in 2004 by enrolling highly motivated students from local schools, who were committed to self-improvement, both academically and in terms of values. This integral approach has proved highly successful allowing our students to continue into higher learning, enter the job market, thus transforming their lives, their families and their communities.
Let’s all come together! Please help me celebrate my big 60 by empowering these kids with the support and love they need to transform their lives, and by doing so, achieving great things for El Salvador.
Big kiss,
Cami Palomo
