Hello All,
Our beloved father, Jeff, needs our help again. We can not believe this has happened to our family only six months after our Fathers accident on Christmas Day! He had made a full recovery and was finally getting back to being his old self, enjoying the outdoors and living life to the fullest!
On Saturday, May 26th , Jeff and His son in law Kyle were riding their dirt bikes in Lucerne Valley. They did a casual 35 mile ride and less than 2 miles from the car on the 4x4 Jeep road Jeff hit a rock wrong with his back tire and causing him to swap side to side, and eventually high side up a berm and crash straight into a Joshua Tree. Kyle used his quick thinking to get Jeff out and to an ambulance quickly ultimately saving his life. He went to the Big Bear ER but was quickly life flighted to Loma Linda ICU when the medical team realized how severe his injuries were. He suffers 9 broken ribs, a punctured lung, lung contusions, broken femur, broken clavicle, broken shoulder blade and 3 vertebrae’s. Thankfully no signs of head trauma.
It has now been 8 days and Jeff still lays heavily sedated and intubated in Loma Linda ICU. His lung contusions are the biggest concern as of right now. He is unable to breath on his own due to the extensive lung damage. Unfortunately, every injury has been incredibly taxing on his body, prolonging his ability to heal. We are still awaiting his spinal surgery because the lungs aren’t strong enough to handle it.
Our dad is the most giving and supportive man we have ever met! He helps out everyone he can and is always there for us. At the races he is the guy who always has stuff to fix a flat or help anyone struggling with the courses. He is extreme selfless and never wants anything in return. He is a hard worker and never slows down! Our hearts are broken to see him in this state and all we want is to see him get better with the best care possible. These funds will make it possible to get the best PT care and create a stress free environment for when he gets out of the hospital. It will help cover the costs of the hotel rooms, the loss of work him and his wife Dee will be facing, and unexpected medical costs, etc... We can only take it one day at a time right now.
The Doctors are unable to give us any timeline as to when he will get out of the ICU. We will continue to post updates on this gofundme page. This has been by far the roughest year for our family and for our Father Jeff.
We are truly heart broken.
Thank you so much for the love and support!
Also, if anyone wants to send Dad any get well cards or notes please message Rachel :) he would love to hear from you all while he is recovering ❤️!
