Renovating The Kitchen For La Sierra (Medellin)
If you've heard of Medellin, Colombia - sometimes the things that come to mind are negative perceptions of that past. However, Medellin has changed drastically and there are a TON of locals trying to do right by their communities. One of them is the La Sierra Tour.
There is a local soup kitchen in the neighborhood that feeds 150 kids a month. These kids are from low-income families that often survive on $300 a month. The kitchen offers them meals every day for $1 a week. The only condition is that the kids need to be in school.
The soup kitchen survives on donations and they are desperately in need of supplies, painting and utensils. If you'd like to donate, please consider helping donate for one of the supplies below.
Feeding 5 Kids For The Week - $5
Kitchen Hood - $200
Vent For The Kitchen - $500
Re-Painting The Kitchen - $500
Refridgerator - $200
Peeler (we would like 5) - $10 each
A Set Of Plates & Cups(we would like 5) - $30
Sets of Utensils - $25
Pots and Pans - $50
Aprons - $10
Anything you can contribute will help!
We thank you so, so much.
Doña Nena (the organizer and local Mom with the neighborhood) has been running a kitchen for 20 years.
She is the sweetest lady I've ever met and I saw first hand how much these donations mean to her!
