Supply the Frontlines During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Donation protected
The COVID-19 pandemic is putting an immense strain on BC’s healthcare system, creating severe resource shortages for our frontline workers. In addition, the quarantine measures have devastated local businesses, forcing many family-owned enterprises to shut their doors.
Supply The Frontlines is a project run by a team of UBC students and graduates. Our goal is to connect mission-aligned businesses with BC healthcare facilities in need during the COVID-19 pandemic. We connect with healthcare facilities to identify their resources shortages and other needs. With this information, we identify business and individual donors who are able to provide donations or products at a discounted rate. Not only does this help mitigate the shortages in resources for the healthcare facilities, but it also gives businesses an opportunity to continue their operations.
We believe that individuals and businesses in Canada can step up to help our frontline workers by providing key essentials to our healthcare facilities. Currently, healthcare facilities are in need of personal protective equipment, non-perishable food items, toiletries, and catered meals. We strive to actively connect businesses seeking to help out through donations and/or discounted products with healthcare facilities in British Columbia.
We are currently in contact with several hospitals in the Lower Mainland, such as Surrey Memorial (a hotbed of BC’s COVID-19 cases) and St. Paul’s Hospital. We have connected with businesses in a wide variety of sectors from food, to cleaning equipment, to toiletries.
Donations will be used to purchase discounted products from local businesses in the lower mainland. These products will then be distributed or shipped to healthcare facilities most in need. By doing this, we hope to provide some financial relief for local businesses, as well as make a difference in the healthcare system.
Currently, our goal is to raise $5000. With this money, we aim to purchase the following from willing local businesses:
- $3000 worth of meals ($6/meal = 500 meals)
- $1000 worth of personal protective equipment
- $1000 worth of sanitation products
