Support 1022: A Place of Love and Community

It’s hard to know where to begin! First, thank you for taking the time to read this.

 

Corina and I (Vanessa) purchased 1022 South J in November of 2023, officially opening February 29, 2024. It has been magical at moments and brutal at others. 

So many unforeseen setbacks. Maybe it was the two of us being naïve to this industry or the passion driving us past red flags. Our hope is as strong now as it was then; to have this wonderful intimate bar be a place full of love and positive energy that everyone feels welcome and safe to experience & enjoy.

 

Many of you have shared your concerns for the longevity of us staying open due to the surrounding circumstances that have been a factor for our business. We are at a point that we must be transparent and share that we fear we will have to face the reality of closing soon if we do not find a way to sustain until these factors are no longer an issue.

We have put all we have and more into 1022. Nothing in us wants to give up or lose this place.

We have only heard praise for our service, cocktails, and food (which we both take pride in and are also grateful the amazing 1022 team does as well), and how much everyone loves (now and in the past of course – we continue to be thankful for the years of hard work prior to us and energy that was initially created by other 1022 teams) the vibe of 1022. First dates, date night, friends catching up, a smiling face when stopping in alone for a cocktail and/or dinner and everyone who has chosen to spend some of their time with us! We appreciate you all.

We take pride in being truly inclusive (anyone that it is kind & respectful is welcome at 1022).

We’ve come to the crossroads in our journey where we’ve given every ounce of everything we have and it just isn’t enough right now. With humble and very vulnerable hearts we are asking for your help to keep the iconic 1022 open. The construction around us is coming to an end and soon parking will be available, we know this will be the turning point. Nothing in us wants to give up or let go when we are so close to a new chapter. And we do not take lightly the responsibility that comes with owning this business. We understand this is ours, failure or success. No pressure or obligation is meant, this is just us being transparent.”
