As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Guilford County Association of Scuba Personnel (GASP), we reflect on our journey as a vital emergency service unit specializing in water rescue and recovery. Our team, composed entirely of volunteers, has been pivotal in safeguarding our community, demonstrating unparalleled bravery and expertise in the face of adversity. GASP is a water rescue and recovery team that operates under sanctions of an emergency service unit, and a unified chain of command for the main purpose of water rescue. If water rescue is not at hand, then the team will shift to recovery to locate someone’s loved one to allow the family closure.

GASP continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of the community through relentless training and dedication. The prompt response and efficient recovery efforts are a testament to their unwavering commitment to saving lives.

GASP is a 501c3 non-profit organization comprised only of volunteers who dedicate their time and technical expertise to serve the citizens. The organization operates with a smaller budget than other agencies throughout the County, but our TEAM’s technical skills are unmatched and make them an invaluable asset during emergencies.
