Stronger Together: Help 646 Weightlifting Gym Shoulder the Weight
Members, friends of the gym, and the community of East York,
We’ve all been struggling under the pressure of COVID-19, but now the weightlifting gym needs a spot. Three separate government-mandated business closures have the gym shouldering a financial burden. I’m turning to you all now to help me carry this weight a bit.
When I opened 646 Weightlifting Gym in the spring of 2017, I had one goal in mind: creating the best Olympic weightlifting and strength gym that I possibly could. Little did I know that our humble gym in a converted garage would turn into something so much more than that.
The community that we’ve created over the years is now what drives me. Prior to COVID-19, old and young, new and experienced members from East York and beyond packed the platforms, forging lifelong friendships over barbells. My coaches and I provided them with weight training over the years, but they’re in fact the real sources of strength.
I want to ensure that this community weathers the current lockdown and comes out on the other side of it. Donations will help to cover the gym’s rent and utilities. Anything you can give now will help me keep the doors of the gym open for years to come.
Stay safe and remember that hard times don’t last. Strong people do.
Thanks,
Paul Medeiros
