I'm updating this as of 4/1/25.
Now working a second pt job and still struggling just to get by. I keep hoping things will pick up and while some days are better than others, there continues to be days with only one or two deliveries. So once again, I must swallow my pride and ask for help.
Please know that your generosity is abundantly appreciated!
I retired in 2016 and left a 23-year-long marriage in 2020.
Without my husband's support, I was on my own. After more than a month of searching, I got a job delivering food.
After three months in a women's shelter, I teamed up with another woman and moved into a duplex on a farm.
The peace of this idyllic location soothed my troubled soul and I began to heal...until things went sour.
My roommate got evicted for not paying her share and I was left holding the bag.
My landlady was kind and generous and allowed me to remain with only a $100 increase in my rent.
Things were going along fine until about a month ago when my hours were cut at work.
Then my landlady said she could "no longer be kind and generous" and she was raising my rent an additional $360 per month.
These two things happening so close together have thrown me for a loop. I'm 74 with various medical issues. I can only work part time and my Social Security alone is not enough to live on.
I need help.
UPDATE: 1/7/25
My hours have been cut AGAIN. I now only get >>NINE << hrs per week. I have been looking for remote work but have been unsuccessful. The vehicle I depend on for my livelihood is in dire need of service but the extra dollars to do that are being used to pay I off two maxed out credit cards that have been keeping me afloat. This is all very stressful and scary.
I hate holding my hand out again but ....
