We are starting this GofundMe for a very good friend of ours. Her name is Andrea Bean, some of you know her as Andy or Bean, which she prefers to go by. For those of you that know her you know the humorous, caring, and loving person she is. She would sacrifice her life for any one of you and have your back in a heartbeat. She is honest and says it how she sees it.
It has been almost two years since she has gotten sick. She came to find out it was actually two issues. She had a hernia wrapped around her stomach which caused it to split in half, pushing the upper part into her chest. This caused a multitude of issues and discomfort, which is a mild description of her day to day life in dealing with it. The second issue was her spleen, a part of it had died off and a cyst had formed on it. With part of her spleen dead her immune system was shot, not completely gone, but very compromised. This means our minor colds turned vicious to her, it would be 100 times worse and last longer, and because of her hernia the meds that would help with a normal cold were not as effective. In the summer of 2016 she had surgery removing the cyst and repairing the hernia. All went well with the surgery or at least we all thought. There were some minor issues, which they said may happen, but they didn’t improve. She was getting sick again more often and the same symptoms that lead her to go in in the first place had started recurring.
In December of 2016 she went to stay with friends to help out during his surgery and between being sick, the symptoms recurring, and the stress of life she went into the emergency room days after Christmas. They found the cyst had returned and there was an issue with the hernia repair. The chances of the cyst returning were 15% and because it did return they suggested a splenectomy, but wanted to coordinate to have the hernia done at the same time. They sent her home with appointments for surgical consults and told her to stay close “just in case”. Within the next two weeks she met with both surgeons, had more bloodwork and double checks of double checks to make sure her body was as ready as it could be. Once again the surgery went well, no complications and an expected full recovery. The hernia just need a small repair, but with the full removal of her spleen she has completely lost her immune system. In time it will rebuild, but nothing like it was before she was sick.
Since the surgery she got an infection in one breast causing a painful lump to grow and stay. She was hospitalized again after multiple antibiotics and no luck with them. They biopsied the lump trying to figure out what kind of infection it was and found out it was actually two types of fungus. One of them they were able to get rid of the other is still fighting any kind of treatment. They have her seeing all types of specialist and having all types of tests ran. During all this she hasn’t been able to work and the bills have been piling up not to mention the day to day living expenses.
Any funds collected here will go straight to her for back bills and future expenses. She has to change her way of living because of this, any contact with someone who has the sniffles can be detrimental to her. She goes anywhere she has to wear a mask, disinfect everything, and then herself when she gets home so she doesn’t bring anything into her “safe zone” after being out. Due to the cost and stress of this she rarely leaves her home where her best friends have made it their mission to make it safe for her. Please help Support A Bean even a little will help. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you can give.
