Support a Black Owned Operated Birth Cottage

Greetings,

My name is Racha Tahani Lawler Queen, a Black homebirth mama, wife, and midwife of 20+ years. I am the CEO and owner of Gather Grounded Midwifery, a Black-owned birth cottage in the Powhatan & Monacan Territory ~ Midlothian, Virginia.

We’ve OFFICIALLY BEEN OPEN SINCE AUGUST 25th 2023 thanks to YOUR SUPPORT!!

Gather Grounded Midwifery is a safe and welcoming place where Black, Brown, Indigenous, and queer families are prioritized. Our birthing cottage features a water birthing suite, family room, and healing room where our community receives pregnancy, birth and postpartum care and education in a unique retreat space.

In 2023 and 2024, the birthing cottage provided accessible midwifery care for low-risk families. 

We support and have partnerships with local Black healthcare providers that prioritize the healing and protection of Black, Brown, Indigenous families birthing with us.

Gather Grounded Midwifery is also an educational space where two Black learning midwives are completing their traditional midwifery education. The Traditional Midwifery Freedom Path is a culturally affirming, fiscally-supported midwifery apprenticeship pathway to licensure. 

Gather Grounded Midwifery is raising $100,000 to continue providing the lowest cost birth (center) cottage midwifery services to the families in the Central Virginia area. 

It has been a dream come true to bring a SAFE out-of-hospital, traditional birthing option to this community! Your generosity and support is APPRECIATED more than you know!!
