Help CAIR-TX Support a Muslim Family Affected by Hate

Hello everyone,

This is Shaimaa Zayan, the Operations Manager with CAIR-Texas, Austin. I created this fundraiser to collect money for Mrs. H and her family who faced a devastating hate incident in their apartment complex swimming pool. The incident left the Mother and her 2 young kids traumatized and badly affected the father's income as he had to accompany his wife and 4 kids in their appointments and daily errands because the mother was scared to go out with her kids alone. As a family of 4 kids living paycheck to paycheck, they will use the raised money to pay bills, cover their basic needs, get a long-term mental health support, and reduce their daily stress as they navigate the trauma. In the embrace of a peaceful Sunday, on May 19th, a disturbing event unfolded for an American Muslim family at their apartment complex's swimming pool.

The mother, unmistakably Muslim with her Hijab and modest swimwear, was watching her children, aged 3 and 6, play in the shallow end of the pool when a White woman entered the swimming pool area and started asking the mother racist questions before jumping into the pool and allegedly pulled the children towards the deeper end of the pool in an attempt to drown them.

The children are safe, although need time to recover from the trauma, and CAIR-Texas chapter is following up with authorities.

This incident impacted the family's financial stability as the father had to take time away from work to accompany his wife and their four children to appointments and errands.

In this heavy time, your support can bring back the hope and the trust to this devastated family.
