On February 3 I went in to the hospital for a routine gallbladder surgery. On February 7, I was rushed to the hospital in extreme pain for a gallbladder leak. On the 8th I almost bled to death during emergency surgery and when I woke up, my right leg was paralyzed.
I have been in a wheelchair now for a month, after being able to walk miles with a walker and my kids during birdwatching, park adventures and Pokémon Go. I can no longer care for myself, walk or drive.
The hospital has given me different diagnoses, including Femoral Nerve Palsy, but I've been told repeatedly they screwed up and this never should've happened and that I may never walk again.
I am in constant pain, I'm so sad, and I'm scared for my kids and I.
My mother has quit her job to care for me and my 18-year old sleeps next to me to help me transfer in and out of the wheelchair. My 13-year old is autistic and her world has been drastically changed too.
I'd like to raise $745 to take a driving test here in Tucson in an accessible vehicle, as well as the several thousand dollars needed to get hand controls and a wheelchair ramp installed on my car.
I'd also really like to get a wheelchair ramp for my mother's home, where my kids and I now live, and an accesible shower. Thank you so much.
