Support a First-Gen Latina's Dental School Dream
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
I made this account to help raise some funds to help save up money for tuition. I am a first-generation Latina student who graduated last May with a degree in molecular and cellular biology. Being a first-generation non-traditional student has come with its challenges; one of them is not being able to afford educational expenses. Right now, I am applying to dental school and that itself has become very expensive. I was able to maintain a 4.0 GPA during my undergraduate studies all while working full-time, but in graduate school (dental school) I will not be able to work at all and will have to rely on loans to get by. Dental school is extremely expensive and right now I’m working full-time trying to save up as much as I can before that comes. As of right now, I have interviewed at two schools, both of which are private schools which are very expensive. I am passionate about dentistry and I want to be able to give back to my community. Currently, I work as a registered dental assistant at my community clinic and I have been here for 5 years now. I want to be a dentist who works in public health and treats low-income/socially disadvantaged individuals. This is my driving force and why I have worked so hard to get to where I am today. Every time I consider giving up, I remind myself of the patients I help treat every day at the clinic and I am reminded that it will all be worth it in the end. I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can receive. Thank you again for your time reading this and for your generous donation.
