Help after loosing everything in house fire.
Donation protected
On June 19, 2024, my house burned down. On the 19th, I returned home to see the house on fire. I called 911 and the fire department came out and extinguished the fire. It was contained to one room and was ruled a faulty electrical outlet. We were placed in a hotel for the night due to the remainder of the home having severe smoke and water damage from the fire. As heartbroken as I was, I was thankful to still have all of our belongings except for the one room.
The next morning, being mentally and emotionally prepared to start taking clothes and things to wash at the laundromat and pick up the pieces, we arrived back home to find our home burned down to the ground. We lost everything. The fire department was called out in the middle of the night, we were told that it was possible there were embers in the wall that rekindled that caused our home to be completely gone. Our hearts are completely broken. We are very thankful no lives were lost and we still have each other. We lost everything but the clothes we had on. We lost many irreplaceable family heirlooms, all my children and grandchildren keepsakes from over the years. The fire was so hot it even burned the contents in my safe.
We have had several people donate money to help with getting a few clothes and hygiene things. We even had enough to pay for a room a few days until we were able to get assistance in providing temporary housing. Which is where we are now. We have a hotel room for the next two weeks. Because the home wasn’t in my name and nor was the insurance, mine nor my son is covered in this fire. My son is 15 and Autistic. He is having a hard time wrapping his head around losing everything. He is so heartbroken. I myself am physically disabled and live off a fixed income.
I am at a total loss of how we are going to move forward. I would love to be able to replace what my son has lost because I have been telling him it can and will be replaced with time. My main focus is getting us into a rental home so we can start over. I’m hoping to get enough for a deposit, first month's rent, and electricity. If we are able to get into a place, our healing from this can begin. This is the most traumatic event we have ever experienced. Any money that and if it exceeds when we pay to get into a place, I plan on using to buy beds and necessities for daily living. Anything will graciously be appreciated. Anyone who would like to see a copy of the fire report as proof and my identification, I have no problem sharing. I am really desperate to get back to a little normalcy for my son’s wellbeing. Thank you for reading this and if you aren’t able to donate, I ask if you can please keep us in prayer.
